Twin screw extrusion was pioneered by SAIXIN in breakfast cereals in the early 1995’s and it is now recognized as a very versatile and economic process for direct expanded breakfast cereals
A typical extruded breakfast cereal processing line includes bulk ingredient storage and feeder, twin screw extruder (with die assembly and die face cutter), primary dryer, coating drum with dryer and packaging equipment.
Direct expanded breakfast cereals cover a large variety of recipes and shapes:
Yellow or white corn, wheat, rice, wheat barley, oat flour or grits or multigrain
Flavours and colours (Chocolate, honey, fruits...) are also generally included in the recipes.
